Athens teens linked to burglary

ATHENS — Two teenagers who allegedly tried to break into a safe got held at gunpoint by a business owner, a Limestone investigator said.

Lamont Lesherd Williams, 19, of 700 E. Elm St., Apartment 1-H, Athens, and a 16-year-old Athens male allegedly broke into CCS Garbage Services on New Cut Road on Friday afternoon, Sheriff’s Department Chief Investigator Stanley McNatt said.

“They were trying to break into the safe when the owner arrived and caught them and held them at gunpoint until authorities arrived,” McNatt said.

Authorities charged both teens with third-degree burglary. Williams is out of jail on $2,000 bond.

Authorities released the juvenile into his parents’ custody.
