Man who allegedly hid cocaine in sock injured in wreck

ATHENS — A man who allegedly hid cocaine in a sock last week is in the hospital after he wrecked a four-wheeler while out of jail on bond, according to reports.

Cordney Crutcher, 31, of 22850 Pepper Road, Athens, was in a regular room in stable condition at Huntsville Hospital on Monday afternoon.

He was out of jail in lieu of $40,000 bond, charged with trafficking.

Athens police Capt. Tracy Harrison said Crutcher hit a curb and lost control of the four-wheeler Sunday. The wreck occurred at 4:30 p.m on Minuteman Drive between Sanderfer Road and Brookhill Drive.

Athens-Limestone Hospital transferred Crutcher to Hunts-ville by MedFlight helicopter.

On Oct. 9, the Limestone-Athens Drug Unit arrested Crutcher when investigators allegedly found 41/2 ounces of cocaine he hid in a sock.
