Brush fire in Decatur

Firefighter Adam Towe battles a brush fire in the 700 block of 14th Avenue Southwest in Decatur. Firefighters said they don’t know what caused the fire, which burned multiple acres Tuesday.

Decatur fire Lt. Dusty Cheatham said the 1:40 p.m. blaze didn’t endanger any buildings or people, but it did leave trees charred.

It took nearly 20 firefighters two hours to put out the fire, which eventually consumed two to three acres, Cheatham estimated. Choking, dry weather continues to plague the area despite a touch of precipitation Tuesday.
