MEETING NOTES
Athens Planning Commission

ATHENS — The Athens Planning Commission took the following action at Tuesday’s meeting:

Heard a report from Public Works Director James Rich that the plans for Publix on U.S. 72 at Lindsay Lane have been submitted and work should start at the end of the year.

Approved recommending to the City Council to rezone 10.22 acres for John Plunk from light industrial to medium-density residential.

Gave preliminary and final approval on re-subdividing two lots for John and Peggy Hammons on Jefferson Street south of U.S. 72. One lot will be a new veterinary clinic for Hammons, and other he will sell.

Gave preliminary approval for an addendum to the Lakes at Watercress Subdivision on Lucas Ferry and Quinn roads.

Gave final approval for Hawk’s Landing on Alabama 251 north of Lindsay Lane; and Cantera Place Phase 2 east of Lindsay Lane, north of Pepper Road and south of Nick Davis Road.
