Pine Hill camp shutting down; owners to sell land

SOMERVILLE — Carolyn Price said she and her husband, Frank, owners and operators of Pine Hill Day Camp, are retiring and closing the facility.

“It’s permanent,” she said Wednesday. “We will not open in 2008 or at any other time.”

She said Amerisouth Auctions of Decatur will auction the 122-acre site and camp equipment Dec. 1 at 10 a.m. at the property at 113 Pine Hill Drive.

“We built the camp, started it up and our children grew up here,” Carolyn Price said. “After 31 years, we’re ready to retire.”

She said as they began to consider retirement, selling the camp was the option they decided upon.

But she said the camp name, mailing lists, the program “or the Prices as consultants are not for sale.”
