Decatur man charged with theft of county truck

A man faces charges of stealing a pickup belonging to the Morgan County Commission, Decatur police said Thursday.

The pickup disappeared from the District One Shop on Sept. 8, said Lt. Frank DeButy, a police spokesman. After police found the pickup in the area of Sandlin Road Southwest and Courtney Drive on Sept. 14, investigators began developing suspects.

On Wednesday, investigators arrested Porter Lincoln Dance Hitt, 18, of 2807 Sandlin Road S.W., Apt. No. 3, on a charge of first-degree theft, DeButy said. He remained in Morgan County Jail on Thursday on $1,500 bond.
