Tuscaloosa man accused of putting mother’s body in shed

TUSCALOOSA (AP) — Investigators in Tuscaloosa on Friday found the body of a 91-year-old woman in a shed behind her house. They said they believe her son put her body there after she died of natural causes at least two months ago.

Capt. Loyd Baker, commander of the Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit, said investigators believe the woman died around Aug. 18. Her son, 61-year-old David Bright, was charged Friday with abuse of a corpse and five counts of fraudulent use of a debit card, for using her card after death.

His bail was set at a total of $90,000, that's $15,000 for each of the six charges, according to news reports.

Baker declined to release the woman's name Friday.
