Governor appoints district judge for Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY (AP) — Gov. Bob Riley has appointed Arthur F. Ray II as a Montgomery County district judge, replacing Judge Lynn Bright, a Democrat who is retiring.

Ray, a graduate of Auburn University and Jones School of Law, served as a staff attorney for civil appeals court Judge Craig Pittman before entering private practice in Montgomery.

"Arthur Ray is more than qualified to take over this judgeship," Riley said Friday.

The appointment is effective Oct. 29, the Republican governor said.
