Fire crews battle woods blaze in Cherokee County

PIEDMONT (AP) — .Firefighters from several counties and neighboring Georgia battled a 100-acre woods fire Sunday in Cherokee County that threatened some homes and farms.

The fire was reported around 2 p.m. north of Piedmont off Cherokee County 8, said Alabama Forestry Commission spokesman Mike Kyser.

There were no injuries reported.

Kyser said crews from Georgia helped battle the fire.

He said crews from Cherokee, Calhoun and DeKalb counties also worked the fire.
