'Wings of Freedom' landing in Huntsville

The Collings Foundation’s “Wings of Freedom” tour of the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress Nine O Nine and the Consolidated B-24 Liberator WWII Heavy Bombers will fly into Huntsville on Wednesday.

The tour will land at the Madison County Executive Airport and stay Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Local citizens can visit, explore and learn more about these rare treasures of aviation history.

The B-17 is one of only nine in the United States still in flying condition. The B-24J is the only fully restored flying example of its type in the world.

Cost is $10 donation for adults and $5 donation for children under 12. Visitors may take a 30-minute flight for a tax-deductible donation of $425 per person aboard the B-17 or the B-24. For reservations and more information, call (800) 568-8924.
