MEETING NOTES
Morgan County Commission

The Morgan County Commission took the following action during a meeting Tuesday:

  • Approved a $299 per month bid from Ed Smith Office Machines Inc. to lease a copier for license commissioner’s office.

  • Approved a $6,751 bid from Ed Smith Office Machines Inc. to buy a copier for the revenue commissioner’s office.

  • Approved a bid from Cintas for $130 to furnish uniforms for various county departments.

  • Approved paying $10,850 to North American Video and Sound for a security system for the voting machines storage room.

  • Approved bids from Lynn Layton Chevrolet for two trucks for animal control. One costs $25,200, and the other costs $22,980.

  • Approved paying $2,703.75 to the Alabama Sheriffs Association for annual member ship dues for Sheriff Greg Bartlett.

  • Approved paying $150 to the National Sheriffs Association for membership dues for Bartlett.

  • Authorized execution of an agreement between the commission and the town of Eva for police protection. Eva will pay $4,835.67 per month for Sheriff’s Department protection.

  • Renewed a contract with TruGreen ChemLawn for $1,575 for providing lawn care services.

  • Approved a $2,777.78 match from the county’s General Fund for a grant for the Sheriff’s Department to furnish its patrol cars with digital cameras.

  • Approved paying $2,291 to the National Association of Counties for membership dues for the County Commission.

  • Approved paying $381,189 to ANB Insurance Services Inc. for blanket coverage for the year.

  • Approved paying $4,637.50 to Harris, Caddell and Shanks, PC for legal services for September.

  • Approved giving $100 to Hartselle High School golf tournament and $1,000 to Walking Horse Association of Alabama Inc.

  • Approved certificates to subdivide land for the estate of Jimmy Sims, South Old Six Mile road and Faye Lane in District 4; Ernest Lopez, Riverloop Road and Lake shore Drive in District 4; Ray Warren, Isley Road in District 2; Kenneth and Betty Ward, Eva Road, Wilson Mountain Road, Gandy’s Cove Road in District 3; Cois E. Woodard, Morgan County 55 and McGlathery Lane in District 3.
