MEETING NOTES
Hartselle City Council

HARTSELLE — The Hartselle City Council took the following action at Tuesday’s meeting:

  • Rezoned two acres on U.S. 31 from Agricultural 1 to Business 1.

  • Agreed to submit an application to the Morgan County Health Department to expand the city cemetery.

  • Authorized Mayor Dwight Tankersley to apply for a grant to provide security fencing and an updated layout plan at Hartselle-Morgan County Regional Airport with an estimated cost of $237,000. The city’s match would be $5,941.

  • Authorized the expenditure of $1,205 for invoices relating to the Hammitt Street Bridge project.

  • Adopted an ordinance to regulate mixed martial arts.

  • Gave the Hartselle Area Chamber of Commerce permission to close Railroad Street on Nov. 4 beginning at 9 a.m. for Christmas Open House and Taste of Hartselle.

  • Transferred $3,000 in the administration budget from education reimbursement to computer expense.

  • Approved the city’s $1.4 million 2007-08 capital improvement plan.

  • Moved the next council work session to 6 p.m. on Nov. 13.
