Support for fighting child abuse

Susan Roberts, director of Parents and Children Together, gets a congratulatory hug from Morgan County District Judge David Breland for receiving $70,000 for its Parents and Parents as Teachers programs.

PACT was one of six local agencies aimed at helping youths to share $149,400 given by the Alabama Department of Child Abuse and Neglect prevention, formerly the Children's Trust Fund.

Mental Health Association in Morgan County will get $1,900 for a middle school bully prevention program; Child Advocacy Center, $25,000 to counsel at-risk children; Judicial Volunteer Program, $7,500 for the Juvenile Conference Committee; Volunteer Center of Morgan County, $10,000 for Friend-2-Friend mentoring program; and Decatur Youth Services, $35,000 for its fatherhood program.
