Jury indicts man in wreck death

ATHENS — A Limestone County grand jury has indicted a Huntsville man on vehicular homicide for a wreck that killed a woman and injured her husband.

According to court reports and Athens police records, Michael Shane Gower, 37, of 200 Little River Road, ran a stop sign and caused the three-vehicle wreck at Edgewood Road and West Elm Street in May.

The wreck killed Mary Greenhall Elmore. Her husband, Lester, was critically injured. Gower and the driver in the third vehicle were not injured.

Gower is out of the Limestone County Jail on $35,300 bond. He was also indicted for first-degree assault and running a stop sign.
