Muscle Shoals pharmacist arrested on drug charge

MUSCLE SHOALS (AP) — A Muscle Shoals pharmacist has been arrested and charged with drug possession.

The Colbert County Drug Task Force said Darrell Thrasher, 36, was arrested Thursday night in the parking lot of Kmart in Muscle Shoals.

Officials told the TimesDaily in Florence that Thrasher had been a pharmacist at the store for a few months.

Thrasher was being held in the Colbert County Jail without bail. It was not immediately known if he had a lawyer.

Authorities said the arrest came after an investigation by the Alabama Pharmaceutical Board and the drug task force.

Brad Hulsey, one of the investigators, said that at the time of the arrest, Thrasher had several prescription narcotics in his possession that were believed to have been taken from the store.

Hulsey said that when Thrasher was confronted by authorities and searched, they found 25 Lorcets, 50 hydrocodone pills and a bottle of liquid hydrocodone.

Officials with Sears Holding Corp,, the parent company of Kmart, declined comment and referred all questions to local authorities.

Hulsey said the drug task force was called to assist the pharmaceutical board with the investigation.

Officials declined to say how the investigation began, but did say Thrasher had been under investigation for a couple of months.

Reports indicate Thrasher has a previous indictment for second-degree theft of property.
