Russian art included in Smith Lake show

The newly acquired collection of Russian artist Ivan Garikow will be part of the first Smith Lake Fine Arts Festival.

The exhibition will include his paintings of the commandants, Rasputin and the royal Russian courts, as well as lectures on his life in concentration camps.

The event, featuring artists from North Alabama, is a fundraiser for school arts programs in the five-county area around Smith Lake. The event is Nov. 10 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Nov. 11 from noon to 5 p.m. at Lakeshore Inn Marina and Restaurant in Double Springs.

For more information, visit www.freewebs.com/smithlakearts. To view Garikow’s works, visit www.garikow.com.
