Fire destroys house

Decatur firefighter Troy Seibel and Flint volunteer firefighter J.R. Loughman battle a house fire at 147 Starkey Road on Thursday night.

About 20 firefighters from Decatur, Flint and Oak Ridge spent 45 minutes to an hour to get the fire under control. Decatur firefighter Lance Millette said the house was fully involved when firefighters arrived shortly after 11 p.m.

The homeowners were not home, and no one was injured. The blaze destroyed the house. It heavily damaged trees, but firefighters stopped it short of a detached garage.

"There was no available water supply," Millette said. "Flint and Decatur shuttled water to the scene."

The cause remains under investigation.
