These students from Brewer High School were inducted into the National Honor Society on Oct. 22. Members were selected by a faculty council for meeting high standards of scholarship, service, leadership and character.

SADD toy drive
Students Against Destructive Decisions at Danville High School are holding a toy drive through Nov. 28. The group is working with the Kids to Love Foundation to collect new toys, new clothing items and personal care items for orphans of homes broken up by methamphetamine use. Monetary donations are also needed.
All donations may be brought to Danville High School office during school hours.
Lipscomb night Thursday
Lipscomb University in Nashville will host an event for alumni, students, parents and anyone interested in learning more about Lipscomb on Thursday at 7 p.m., at the Huntsville Museum of Art, 300 Church St. S.
Attendees will learn about Lipscomb’s programs and key initiatives.
Teens are invited to participate in Wii games, iMovies and give-aways. Six scholarships will be given to students attending the event.

Calhoun technology tour
The Technologies and Work Force Development Division at Calhoun Community College will host a Technology Open House and Tour on Monday and Tuesday, at the Decatur campus. Hours are 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday.
Attendees can talk with program instructors in aerospace technology, air conditioning and refrigeration, design drafting technology, industrial
instrumentation, and automation/robotics), industrial maintenance, machine tool technology and process technology.
Tours will include the college’s new Center for Manufacturing Innovation.
The event is free and open to the public.
