Man in serious condition after fall

An Elkmont man, injured in a fall Saturday, was listed in serious condition Sunday afternoon at Huntsville Hospital.

Jeffery Davis, 39, of Elkmont was airlifted from his home on Shipley Hollow Road after falling about 6 p.m. Saturday.

Elkmont Volunteer Fire Chief Jeff McMunn said Davis suffered “life-threatening injuries.” He said Davis fell from a hunting stand mounted about 4 feet above his barn’s roofline.

“I think he fell from (the stand) and actually struck the roof and then came on down,” McMunn said.

Man found dead near parents’ home

HARTSELLE — A 25-year-old man’s death was apparently from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Morgan County Coroner Russ Beard.

Jonathan Wade Hogan’s body was found Sunday in a wooded area near his parents’ home in Hartselle, Beard said.

He listed the time of death as either late Saturday night or early Sunday morning. Hogan was apparently staying with his parents, Beard said.
