Carnival worker on life-support in Dothan hospital after fight

DOTHAN (AP) — A 60-year-old Indiana man critically injured in a fight with a carnival co-worker remained on life-support Sunday at a Dothan hospital.

Dothan Police Cpl. Frank Meredith said Mike Cowherd of Indianapolis, a concessions worker at the National Peanut Festival, received a severe head injury Thursday and was not expected to recover.

He was being treated at Flowers Hospital.

Shane Michael Westover, 29, of West Bend, Ind., has been identified as the co-worker involved in the fight.

Left the state

Authorities said Westover left the state, but they expected him to return to Dothan and face police questioning about the fight.

Cowherd and Westover both worked on the Midway at the festival and are employed by West Concessions.
