AREA NEWS IN BRIEF

Jury indicts man in child abuse case

A Morgan County grand jury indicted a Decatur man on a charge of sexually abusing a child under 12.

Decatur police said they arrested Mark Andrew Watrous, 43, of 107 Albert St. S.W. on Friday on the indictment, issued Oct. 25.

Capt. Vince Baer, a police spokesman, said Watrous knew his male victim but was not a relative.

The alleged abuse took place in July, Baer said.

Morgan County Jail released Watrous on Friday on $10,000 bond.

Louisiana escapee caught in Priceville

PRICEVILLE — Police arrested a Louisiana work-release escapee Friday.

Carlis Joseph Glynn III, 26, may have been doing construction work, as he was on a roof-top in Priceville when Priceville and Decatur police found him.

Glynn escaped from work-release in Baton Rouge on July 20, according to the Louisiana Department of Public Safety’s Web site. The site didn’t list the crime for which Glynn was serving time. Arrested as a fugitive from justice, Glynn remained in Morgan County Jail on Monday without bond.
