By Ronnie Thomas

Lt. Col. Dwight Jett will be grand marshal for the Veterans Day parade Monday, sponsored by the Combined Patriotic Organizations of Morgan County.

Jett, a Decatur attorney and school board member, recently returned from a year's duty in Iraq.

John R. Tinger of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 11 said the parade will start at 9:30 a.m. at Second Avenue and Gordon Drive Southeast, capped by a Veterans Day service at the Old State Bank.

Tinger said that along with Jett, the highlight of the parade will be the marching veterans of Morgan County.

He said the parade will feature high school bands from Falkville and Courtland, the Austin High and Brewer High JROTC and the Decatur Dixie Darlings.

"We'll have antique cars and tractors, and we're anticipating an entry from Decatur Fire & Rescue," Tinger said. "We're also expecting floats and other vehicles from the participating organizations. Horses are also in the lineup."

For more information, call Tinger at 306-0898.
