Limestone school board member says job applications will be made public

ATHENS — A Limestone school official said Friday the public will learn the names of everyone who has applied for assistant superintendent.

Board of Education Chairman Earl Glaze said the media will receive the names next week.

When asked by The Daily for the list of applicants, Superintendent Barry Carroll had said he would release the top six.

The position oversees personnel issues and student disciplinary matters.

The deadline to apply was Friday. A screening committee will narrow the selection to six candidates and conduct interviews.

Carroll will recommend two to three candidates to the board at its Dec. 2 meeting.

Ardmore High Principal Mike Owens confirmed he has applied.

Current Assistant Superintendent Richard Leath is retiring in December.
