Man accused of firing on 2 game wardens

ABBEVILLE (AP) — A Houston County man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after firing on two game wardens called to his hunting property in Henry County on Saturday.

Henry County Sheriff Will Maddox said Richard Allen Yeager had requested the wardens meet him to discuss a complaint he had about another man’s hunting dog running loose on his property.

It appears something the game wardens said didn’t sit well with Yeager, who pulled a pistol and fired at the officers, Maddox said. The officers were not hit.

Maddox said Yeager “supposedly has post-traumatic stress disorder syndrome.”

In the sheriff’s opinion, Yeager shouldn’t be allowed to possess a weapon.

The game wardens subdued Yeager and he was taken to the Henry County Jail.
