Iraqi soldiers courageous in fight for a free Iraq
As we watch our youth die at an alarming rate in Iraq, it is difficult not to blame Iraqis for failing to take up the reins we so desperately want them to hold.
Iraq is their country, after all, and we want Iraqis to take aim at the insurgents who destabilize Iraq. Our people are dying for their freedom.
But we must not be too hasty to deal out blame.
The news Sunday that 15 Iraqi soldiers were likely captured by terrorists is merely the latest in many months of horror for the people of Iraq.
Iraqis with the courage to fight Islamic usurpers are dying in droves. Beheadings and car bombs transform them into corpses many times a day. Their families watch in horror as the men confront, and often succumb to, the enemies of Iraq.
That Iraqis are willing to fight when death has greeted their colleagues with such frequency demonstrates their courage and their patriotism.
