Way to go, Bo; Somerville is proud of all you've done

No offense meant, but normally there's not much exciting to do around Somerville except listen to the cows bawl.

And that's because cows are the sound of money to the people who live in and around the old seat of Morgan County government. But there's a new excitement stirring in Somerville these days as they gather at local restaurants to cheer for Bo Bice, the American Idol candidate from Helena who has family roots in Somerville.

Bo is attempting to follow Birmingham's Ruben Studdard, known as the Velvet Teddy Bear, to stardom.

He's survived a grueling elimination contest through nine weeks on the popular Fox TV program in which the good, the bad and the awful impress a national audience that cast almost 30 million votes after this week's performance.

So, tune in Tuesday night, then vote for Bo. You will hear some pretty good music and warm up to the competition that eliminates one candidate each week.

His grandma and papa, Madge and John Schofield, and other Somerville relatives would appreciate your help to keep him in the running.

Go, Bo!
