Cheney visit a civics lesson for the area

It's not often that someone as high in government as the vice president makes a major speech in a town as small as Priceville.

It's not often that school recesses so students may stand along the vice president's motorcade route and cheer as he goes by.

Seeing and hearing the vice president isn't often as convenient as Dick Cheney's visit to Celebration Arena on Monday.

The pomp and ceremony of his visit for a brief time thrust Priceville into the vortex of national politics and power.

He came for a fundraising event on behalf of fellow Republican U.S. Rep. Robert Aderholt's, re-election campaign and allowed us a rare close-up civics lesson.
