Athens High a good Valley representative

The 2006 Athens Golden Eagles football's state championship will live with team members all of their lives.

All jocks love to look back on their football years, but when a player gets to be part of a team that proves itself to be the best, that's, well, something extra special.

The Golden Eagles did that Friday night at Birmingham's historic Legion Field in the Class 5A championship game against undefeated Eufaula.

The game was a classic. Defense and the kicking game took over to produce a 10-7 Athens win.

The championship is more than a win on a football field; it's a lesson in what dedication and teamwork can accomplish. Successful living is about being leaders and developing teamwork.

Congratulations to coach Allen Creasy and his staff, and to the team members for bringing home the 5A championship trophy to the Tennessee Valley.
