'Lucky & Friends' a thoughtful gift
Anyone looking for an inexpensive, but useful Christmas gift that will be around for awhile is in luck.
Make that Lucky.
Lucky became a national poster dog against animal abuse earlier this year when The Daily told the story of a severely injured dog rescued from inside a plastic bag someone dumped into a trash bin.
Lucky got his name because he received extensive care and survived. He has only three paws now but he's a gracious celebrity at Osborne Animal Clinic.
The gift suggestion is for a 2007 calendar titled "Lucky & Friends" that features him and 16 other animals that survived extreme abuse. The calendar costs $15 and is available at the Osborne clinic.
The calendar is a project of the Animal Services Board that will use the money to help pay its pledge of $200,000 toward the city's new animal shelter.
Buy a couple and keep one for yourself.
