OK, Valentine, here’s a quiz
With Valentine’s Day on Wednesday, this is a week of gushy romance.
Meanwhile, “Questions Couples Should Ask (Or Wish They Had) Before Marrying” has been popular on The New York Times’ Web site for almost two months. During the weekend, it was still among the top 10 most e-mailed stories.
This is not the kind of ponderous, analytic article The Times is famous for. It’s a simple list of 15 questions about having children, child care, chores, health, affection, sex, religion, friends, in-laws, careers, moving and commitment.
No. 7 is “Will there be a television in the bedroom?” No. 13 asks, “Are there some things that you and I are not prepared to give up in the marriage?”
If you’re lucky enough to have a valentine, enjoy this week. But before long, those who want to keep their valentines must deal frankly with these practical issues.
