Bama A-Day crowd good start for Saban
A good joke for Auburn University football fans to pass around would be: Why did more than 92,000 people show up for Alabama's A-Day game?
The answer: Alabama fans wanted to see the Crimson Tide win a game.
There is some truth in that answer. But the record-breaking number of Bama hopefuls indicated a hunger for the football they enjoyed under Paul Bryant and Gene Stallings.
No doubt some season ticket holders attended the final spring practice to assess Nick Saban's first team. For many, however, the A-Day game was a rare opportunity to get into Bryant-Denny Stadium and to experience the atmosphere of an October Saturday afternoon on campus. Plus they saw Bama win.
