Catch, punish culprit putting out poison
Evil intent or idiot, whoever put out containers with poison in them in Lawrence County needs to be found before doing more damage. Sheriff's investigators said they had leads in the case but nothing that apparently is solid in tracking down a person driving a black Ford extended cab truck. Someone in the truck may have driven down Lawrence County 84 and distributed the poison, probably a powerful, fast-acting pesticide mixed with fish, with the intent to eradicate animals. Whether the goal was coyotes, or dogs and cats, what the individual did apparently caused one pet dog to die and sent Vicky Parker and her stepson Tommy Parker to the hospital for emergency treatment. We'd like to believe that menacing coyotes rather than pets were the target. But Mrs. Parker said dog poisoning is common in her community. She cited hot dogs with fish hooks inside them, ground glass in hamburger meat and meat soaked in antifreeze being used to target dogs. The people responsible need severe punishment.
