More incest among schools, legislators

Little by little the veneer falls off the two-year college system to show the depth of political corruption.

The latest revelation is that Quinton Ross, a Montgomery Democrat once elected to the state Senate, found work as director of adult education at Trenholm State Technical College.

Sure, his experience as a public school principal and year's work in adult education qualified him for his $91,564 salary. No, his political position had nothing to do with him getting the plum job. At least, that is what he says.

He also said his time away from work fulfilling his legislative responsibilities had nothing to do with the adult education program falling apart.

But a report from the Department of Postsecondary Education said Sen. Ross wasn't "willing and available to diligently work."

His absences at work and poor performance went unmentioned in a letter about the report to the two-year technical school. But former Vice Chancellor Bob Romine did write that the school was fortunate to have Mr. Ross as an employee.

Hmmm.
