Happy epilogue to story of capture of Baasheba

At least one Sunday school class announced the birth of twins Sunday to the obvious pleasure of class members. The baby boys received the twin names of Billy and Billy. Like in billy goat.

They, of course, belong to Baasheba, the nanny goat that residents sighted in several parts of town until she settled on an upscale neighborhood near Decatur Country Club.

The Sunday announcement was one more indication of the extent to which the nanny goat captivated readers as they rooted for her to escape capture.

But all’s well that ends well, somebody said. Apparently that is true. Billy and Billy and Baasheba are living well on Chet Ellis’ farm, after he and his border collie Jim corralled her Oct. 5.

Members of the single-parent family are such stars they will appear at the Walk Your Paws fundraiser for Animal Friends Humane Society on Oct. 27 in Decatur.

We discovered long ago that a newspaper can’t go wrong with its readers when it prints a story about animals.
