Tired of $3 a gallon? Put in order for MDI
The six-passenger MDI automobile isn't the answer to the high price of gasoline but its technology may move the world away from petroleum as its favorite form of energy. Its engine runs on compressed air, and the MDI can travel at speeds of 70 mph for up to 125 miles. Filling up the air tank would cost about $2. The MDI technology belongs to a Luxembourg firm. India plans to put 6,000 of the pollution-free vehicles on its streets next year. They are not yet made to American standards but, with modifications, they will show up here eventually. That day is likely to be sooner than later if gasoline prices and world demand for oil continue to escalate.
