Calm, cool Hillary handled debate

Sen. Hillary Clinton gave one of her best campaign performances yet in Las Vegas on Thursday night in the most recent Democratic presidential debate.

She was relaxed, confident, and articulate and struck the right tone between seeming combative or condescending.

Her best answer may have come during discussions over the volatile Middle East and the U.S. obligation there.

“The first obligation of the president of the United States is to protect and defend the United States of America,” she declared.

The question about America’s murky relations with Pakistan’s Pervez Musharraf gave the frontrunner for the Democratic nomination the opportunity to be articulate while showing circumspection.

That’s a quality that should sit well with American voters today — at least those who don’t suffer from Hillary phobia.
