Median flowers a welcome sight
THE DECATUR DAILY:

Have you noticed how nice it is these days to drive along Alabama 20 leading up to I-565? Since my office is in Huntsville, I travel that stretch of road twice daily. During the past few weeks, I’ve watched the beauty of brightly-colored wildflowers unfold in the median, and it made me smile.

Sometimes we get so caught up in the details of our daily lives that we lose sight of the beauty all around us. I know I speak for many when I say “thank you” to those responsible for planting these flowers. You’ve given us beauty that would be difficult to miss.

Bus drivers deserve respect
THE DECATUR DAILY:

My question is: Why do so many school buses wreck? Is it due to unruly children or are the buses so large it’s like driv-ing a tractor-trailer rig?

I believe the rig drivers have fewer responsibilities and less on their minds than school bus drivers do.

These drivers are to be supported by the school board, parents and community. They deserve respect from everyone.

These children are in safe hands.

I wonder: If the buses were smaller, would it make a difference? How would you like to
drive with yelling, loud-talking, unruly children, who don’t show respect to others? It takes only one or two to cause a problem. So can anyone say for sure where the problem lies?
