Community generosity helps Red Cross help others

To The Daily: As chairman of the local Red Cross chapter, I am extraordinarily grateful to be associated with an organization that makes a difference in our local community every day. With your help, the American Red Cross responded to more than 73,000 local disasters across the country last year — 67,000 of them home fires. So far this year, home fires have devastated 61 families right here in Morgan and Lawrence counties. With your continued support and contributions of time, blood and money, the American Red Cross will stand ready to help your neighbors in their time of need.

Your local Red Cross is also teaching CPR classes, collecting lifesaving blood, helping members of the military stay connected and helping families near or far during times of crisis. It is only through your incredible generosity of spirit that the Morgan-Lawrence County Chapter of the American Red Cross stands ready, offering all these services, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The American Red Cross helps individuals, families and communities become prepared for disasters and other life-threatening emergencies. We couldn’t help our neighbors without you.
