LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Safety important, even when it comes to toys

To The Daily: In the Jan. 13 edition, you ran a Scrapbook picture of a toy Gator utility vehicle held up only by a car jack and a child working underneath it.

Where’s the safety in working with that Gator? What about lives and safety for children later down the road?

It’s irresponsible to use a jack without using jack stands.

All I saw was one big jack holding the Gator up with a child under it. This may make them mad, but I believe in safety.

Owens made a difference in many peoples’ lives

To The Daily: Thank you for your article about the Jesse Owens Park improvements. Although I now live in Canada, a visit by Jesse Owens to my high school many years ago remains one of my fondest memories of growing up in the U.S.

He made a positive difference to many lives and deserves to be honored and remembered.
