LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Was pay increase legalized stealing?

To The Daily: If all these so-called underpaid senators thought the pay wasnít high enough, why did they run for office in the first place?

They knew what they would be getting and if they were satisfied then, why not now? Isnít it enough they get a pension 10 times bigger than people working for years and years get? I donít suppose this comes out of taxpayer money, does it?

Is there such a term as legalized stealing? I often wondered why people give up high paying jobs to run for government offices. Is it because they are compensated by other means? There are several things that I donít think Iíll ever forget: Pearl Harbor, 9-11, the one-cent sales tax in Decatur, and now this. One word, fellows: shame.
