Legislature compromising on reproductive rights

To The Daily: In this legislative session, the Alabama Legislature has introduced four separate anti-choice and anti-woman bills into the House and Senate. All of these bills are sponsored and to be voted on by men who lack any knowledge about what it is to be a mother or to be pregnant. The language used is extremely dangerous and teeters on the slippery slope of women becoming nothing but incubators. Women’s lives are at stake.

What we as citizens of Alabama can and need to do is educate ourselves on the activities in Montgomery. There will be a public meeting in April to discuss the bills introduced and the future of reproductive health care for Alabama’s women and families. The meeting, sponsored by Reproductive Health Coalition of Alabama Huntsville NOW and ACLU of Alabama, will be held April 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the Huntsville Public Library in the auditorium.

I urge anyone concerned about the lives of Alabama women to attend.
