LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Residents, letter carriers helped food drive succeed

To The Daily: On behalf of the staff, volunteers and especially the clients of the Committee on Church Cooperation, I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the people of Morgan County who so generously participated in our May 12 “Stamp Out Hunger” campaign.

Our letter carriers are the eyes and ears of the community, seeing firsthand hunger and the pain it causes. We appreciate so much the extra time and effort they gave to help alleviate that pain. During the next few months, we will have many requests for extra food now that children will be home all day. Children are always an extra burden on our pocketbooks and hot, hungry youngsters are even more difficult. Thanks to our letter carriers and you, our pantry shelves will be ready to meet those requests.

The CCC relies solely on donations to support its programs, and the overwhelming public response to the needs of our less-fortunate citizens was humbling. Thank you for being such a compassionate and caring community.
