NEW PASTOR — The Rev. Robert Newman is the new pastor of Oak Park Church of God. A native of Scottsboro, he attended the University of North Alabama and earned a degree in Bible from Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn. He earned a master of divinity degree from the Church of God Theological Seminary in Cleveland. Newman previously has served Pine Hill Church of God in Wilcox County, Red Bay Church of God, Harvest Temple Church of God in Montgomery and Pelham Church of God.

He and his wife, Lynne, have three children, Rob, 19; Natalie, 17; and Garrett, 13.

JOINS GROUP — Jeremy Lile of Decatur is the new bass singer for Brian Free & Assurance, a Southern gospel quartet that records with Daywind. Lile's first appearance with the group was March 1 in Verona, Miss. He formerly sang with Crystal River.
