Hartselle Camp Meeting Friday

It's an old setting with some updates. Hartselle Camp Meeting will be held for the 108th time starting Friday. Supper will be in the recently built dining hall at 5 p.m., with the opening worship time at 7:30 in the Tabernacle.

The open-sided building on Tabernacle Road is getting new ceiling fans, said Rob Cain, camp meeting association president. Cain also said this week that renovation is almost complete on a former girl's dorm to be used for children's ministry. Cabins that have been re-located are getting electricity and water, he said.

Services will be Friday through June 29 at 10:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Meals will be at 7 a.m., noon and 5 p.m. Prayer meetings will be at 9 a.m. Actor and Decatur native Dean Jones will speak Sunday night, and the Rev. Junior Hill of Hartselle will speak June 27. Camp preachers are the Rev. Paul Lawyer and the Rev. Tom Tanner.

Shiloh festival at building site

Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church isn't waiting for its construction work to be completed to hold a party. Its "Jammin" in June Festival will be June 23, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the building site on Old Moulton Road Southwest at McEntire Lane.

The congregation is providing food, prizes, inflatable games, bingo and a LifeSouth blood drive.

Tommy Cook of the church said the new church should be finished in September. Call 340-1007 for more information.

Church moves services to cinema

Crosspoint Community Church is now meeting at Regal River Oaks Cinema 8 at Colonial Mall. Services are Sundays at 10 a.m.

The congregation had met in a former day care building on Spring Avenue Southwest.

The Rev. Dave Anderson is pastor.
