INSTALLATION — The newly appointed bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Birmingham, Bishop Robert J. Baker, will be installed at the Cathedral of St. Paul in Birmingham on Oct. 2 at 3 p.m. The Vatican announced Baker's appointment Tuesday. He has served since 1999 as bishop of the Diocese of Charleston, S.C.

CHOIRMASTER — Michael Conran of Madison is the new choirmaster of St. John's Episcopal Church. He is assistant professor of music at The University of Alabama in Huntsville. The church will have reception Aug. 26 following a 10:30 a.m. service in the McKimmon Memorial Garden.
