Calvary plans groundbreaking Sunday

Calvary Assembly of God Church will hold an official groundbreaking Sunday at 3 p.m. on a $2.5 million building at its property on Alabama 20, west of Interstate 65.

The Rev. George Sawyer, pastor, said the ceremony will last about an hour.

Calvary is building a 24,000-square-foot building that will be used as a temporary worship center first and later as a youth center, gym and fellowship hall. Chorba Contracting Co. of Guntersville is the contractor.

The church held a dedication ceremony at the site last year. Calvary plans to relocate from Beltline Road Southwest after it sells its property there, Sawyer has said.
