AU/UA prayer breakfast Nov. 13

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes’ 10th Auburn/Alabama Kickoff Prayer Breakfast will be Nov. 13, 6 to 7:30 a.m., at First Baptist Church, Decatur. Speakers will be John Gibbons and Brian Cunningham, former football players for the universities. Gibbons was an Auburn linebacker from 1978 to 1981, and Cunningham was an Alabama kicker from 1994 to 1997.

The program ends at 7:30 a.m. Chick-fil-A of Decatur is providing breakfast. Autographed Auburn and Alabama footballs will be given away. For tickets or sponsorship information, call 301-4501.

Baptists to convene Nov. 13 in Mobile

The Alabama Baptist State Convention will consider whether to oppose a hate crime bill that is before the U.S. Senate and discuss actions to prevent child abuse as it meets in Mobile on Nov. 13-14.

Joe Bob Mizzell, director of Christian ethics for the State Board of Missions, said the topics are among resolutions proposed for the meeting.

The meeting will be at Cottage Hill Baptist Church. The first session is Nov. 13 at 8:15 a.m. The convention ends Nov. 14 at noon. The Rev. Harold Fanning, pastor of Autumnwood Baptist Church, Decatur, is among North Alabama ministers on the program.

A pastor’s conference Nov. 11-12 at Cottage hill will include the Rev. Junior Hill of Hartselle as a speaker.
