Surgery to repair Barnes' knee
TUSCALOOSA (AP) — Alabama's primary backup quarterback, Jimmy Barnes, will have surgery to repair a torn knee ligament, the school said Tuesday.
Barnes of Los Alamitos, Calif., was injured during practice Saturday.
The injury leaves the Crimson Tide with running back Jimmy Johns as the only player aside from starter John Parker Wilson who has taken a snap at quarterback during a game this season.
Alabama plays Oklahoma State on Dec. 28 in the Independence Bowl at Shreveport, La.
Barnes played in two games, completing six of 11 passes for 45 yards and a touchdown.
