BIRMINGHAM — Antonio Landrum caught two touchdown passes from Drew Luker and added another score rushing as Sweet Water beat Cedar Bluff 48-0 on Saturday for the Class 1A state crown.

Sweet Water, located in Marengo County in west Alabama, captured its fifth state football championship and its second 1A title since 2004. Cedar Bluff, from Cherokee County in east Alabama, was looking for its first title.

Landrum and Luker connected on TD plays that covered 25 and 9 yards, and Landrum’s touchdown run covered 9 yards. On defense, Landrum had an interception that set up a score as he won MVP honors.

Dominic Holt scored three touchdowns on runs of 1, 2 and 4 yards, and Johnny Lockett had a 9-yard touchdown run.

Sweet Water (13-1) held Cedar Bluff (13-2) to only 78 total yards, and minus-24 yards rushing.

“We knew we had to stop the run and force them to throw, and we did that,” Bulldogs coach Stacy Luker.

Sweet Water scored two first-half touchdowns off Cedar Bluff turnovers and never looked back.

“The turnovers were big. They kind of set the table for us,” Luker said.

Landrum rushed for 142 yards on 25 carries and caught two passes for 34 yards.

Holt gained 65 yards on 18 rushes.
