OT win for UAB

Paul Delaney III hit two free throws with 28.8 seconds left in overtime to boost UAB to a 58-57 victory in Birmingham.

Delaney scored a game-high 25 points and Wen Mukubu added 19 in the Blazerís (6-3) second consecutive overtime victory.

Walker, who had 14 points, scored from the foul line to give DePaul a 57-55 lead with 55 seconds left in overtime.

Delaney drove to the basket and his off-balance shot went in, but it was wiped out when officials ruled he had been fouled while on the floor.

Delaney hit one of two free throws, leaving DePaul in front 57-56.

Draelon Burns missed the first of a one-and-one free throw for DePaul and Delaney was fouled on UABís next possession. His free throws put the Blazers in front for good, but there was plenty of action down to the end.

DePaulís Karron Clarke missed a shot with five seconds left and UAB rebounded. Mukubu was fouled two seconds later, but he missed both free throws.

n Troy 84, Northern Illinois 81: In Des Moines, Iowa, OíDarien Bassett scored a game-high 20 points and Troy beat Northern Illinois 84-81 Saturday to claim third place in the Drake Regency Classic in Des Moines, Iowa.

The Trojans (5-5) withstood a furious comeback by the Huskies, who whittled a 19-point hole early in the second half into a 73-72 deficit with 6:10 left. Three field goals by Quintan Lipkins and two by Egan Grafel sparked a 19-3 run by Northern Illinois (3-4).

A 3-pointer by Cedric Jackson and a jumper by Richard Chaney gave Troy a five-point cushion and the Trojans forced two crucial turnovers in the final minute to secure the win.

Mike McKinney led the Huskies with 19 points and James Hughes added 16.

Chaney finished with 18 points and Jackson had 14 for the Trojans.
